286–288 Precita Avenue
Bernal Heights · San Francisco, CA 94110
Four units over three storeys at the foot of Bernal Heights, on one parcel carrying both 286 and 288. At 1,875 square feet it is the smallest lot documented on this site, and the building covers half again its area.
Permit history
Four permits, three of them in the 1980s, and the sequence begins with a fire. A June 1984 permit to repair the back of the building after fire damage expired. A far larger job seven weeks later — strip and prepare every wall for sheetrock, insulate — was cancelled. What finally closed the matter came three years on, as a $1,000 permit whose whole stated scope was to bring the building into code.

Not yet documented: the architect, builder and original permit; how much of the building the 1984 fire took, and what was actually rebuilt after two permits lapsed; when the parcel was divided into four units; and any primary-source basis for the 1974 association. Know any of it? Tell us — just describe it in plain words.
