   A cinema was built here in 1928 and was known for decades as the Amazon, serving the Crocker-Amazon and Excelsior neighbourhoods. About forty-three feet tall, its lobby on Geneva Avenue and the auditorium set behind the shops. Latterly the Apollo, it closed in 1987 and was used for a time as a church.
