  1. 1935–1938

    The most ambitious Works Progress Administration playground in San Francisco. Site work moved 34,000 cubic yards of earth and rock and spread 21,000 more of loam; the $75,000 second phase, finished in 1938, built a citywide baseball complex of eleven diamonds with concrete bleachers, a fieldhouse and a convenience station. Portions of the original grandstands survive.
