The butterfly roof is framed in BART running rail, and the brick paving, rusticated concrete and Montana slate of the entrance plaza carry through the mezzanine and down to the platform.

1961

A Bosworth Street station appears in the engineering report to the BART district as a future stop between the 22nd Street and Ocean Avenue stations. It is in the system design by 1963 and its architectural design begins in 1965.

1970

A soda fountain, a restaurant and other businesses, some in buildings of the 1920s, were demolished for the station, and the Glen Park Branch Library was moved from 2909 Diamond Street where it had stood five years.

1972

The granite cylinder at the center of the circular plaza is hand-carved "Glen Park Station 1972", with the cardinal directions on its top.

The station opened with the rest of the San Francisco line. The American Institute of Architects had given the BART system a Collaborative Achievement in Architecture Award earlier that year.

One of eight parcels the evaluation surveyed intensively. Douglas Baylis designed the landscaping. Born designed the marble mosaic on the mezzanine's south wall — eighty pieces of marble cut in Carrara and reassembled on site — and the lettering on the granite cylinder in the circular plaza. The evaluation also finds the station a likely contributor to a system-wide BART historic district, which was outside its scope. The associated power station a block north, designed by the same team, was found not individually eligible. Planning's current historic-resource record for the parcel gives the station as individually listed on the National Register.
