Little Sisters of the Poor

1. June 1, 1977

   On a tie vote on 1 June 1977 the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board failed to designate St. Anne's Home as a landmark; on 21 November 1977 the State Office of Historic Preservation received a request to place it on the National Register of Historic Places.

   The relatively level 6.3-acre site held the Little Sisters of the Poor's home for the aged, St. Anne's, a five-storey Georgian Revival brick building with dormer windows on its top floor in a landscaped yard, housing about 150 elderly people.

3. December 1, 1977

   The City Planning Commission unanimously upheld the negative declaration (Resolution 7857) and rezoned the site from R-1 to R-2 (Resolution 7858) so the Little Sisters of the Poor could replace St. Anne's Home with a three-level home for 120 elderly people, and declared its intention to approve the replacement.

4. December 8, 1977

   The City Planning Commission unanimously authorised the Little Sisters of the Poor to replace St. Anne's Home with a new building for about 120 elderly people, final plans to come back to it (Resolution 7860).

5. January 12, 1978

   The City Planning Commission approved, 5-1, the final plans for replacing the existing home for the aged with accommodation for about 120 elderly people, under its earlier Resolution 7860.
