The girls' gymnasium at Polytechnic High School was built with Public Works Administration funding and finished in November 1936 at a cost of $129,589, matching the Art Deco boys' gymnasium of 1929 at the other end of the campus. PWA records do not name its designer, though G. Albert Lansburgh, who designed the boys' building, is the likely hand. Poly closed in 1973 and its academic building came down in 1989, but both gymnasiums were kept.
