Marina Middle School

   The Marina district had no public school when it was built out in the 1920s and 1930s, and this $400,000 junior high school was in the first batch of projects San Francisco put to the Public Works Administration in 1934. George W. Kelham, John Bakewell Jr. and William P. Day designed the reinforced-concrete campus in the PWA Moderne style with Art Deco motifs: academic building 1935, shops building and heating plant 1937, auditorium 1939.

   Marina Junior High School, about 1935, a Public Works Administration project by John Bakewell Jr., William P. Day and George W. Kelham. Day & Thompson designed its auditorium in the same campaign.
