    Planned under the city architect Alfred I. Coffey and designed by two of the Civic Center's consulting architects — Frederick H. Meyer signed the elevations, John Reid Jr. some of the interiors — as a Spanish Colonial Revival station in miniature civic monumentality, with a matching garage and locker building behind. It replaced the North End station on Washington Street lost in the fire and the temporary one at 3118 Fillmore, and was the district station for the 1915 Exposition.
