1937
A two-flat building designed by Richard Neutra with Otto Winkler — a radical departure from the Eclectic Revival buildings around it, trading historicist ornament and punched upper-storey windows for broad bands of glazing, while still reading as a side-entrance flat.

1937
The Schiff duplex, 1937, designed by Richard Neutra with Otto Winkler and the only one of his San Francisco buildings on level ground. Its steel and glass front, rows of steel-framed ribbon casements and two roof decks made it the closest San Francisco came to the Machine Aesthetic on a narrow city lot.

Identified in 2011 as a potential historic resource for its post-war design, in the citywide study of San Francisco modern architecture and landscape design of 1935–1970.
The city's two studies of this building disagree about its date: the citywide statement on flats and small apartment buildings dates it to 1937 and names Richard Neutra, working with Otto Winkler, as its architect, while the PPIE and Marina District statement records it as a post-war design. The assessor's roll gives 1937.
