Greens, the vegetarian restaurant opened in Building A at Fort Mason Center in 1979 by the San Francisco Zen Center, with interiors by Sim Van der Ryn, construction by Paul Discoe of Joinery Structures and the Zen Center carpenters, and a burlwood redwood sculpture by J.B. Blunk. It brought sustainable design and sustainable food together, sourcing produce from the Zen Center's farm in Muir Beach.
