    Built to the design of the architect Joseph Gosling on a cruciform plan, as a showcase for the interior-furnishings business it was built for; the building contract is dated 20 June 1883. The lot then ran 169.1 feet along Guerrero Street and 125 feet deep.

  3. 1906

    After the earthquake Edwards' Abstract from Records, carried on by his widow and son, was published from the house, before merging with The Recorder. The lot stayed in the family until 1949, and the parlour kept its original wallpaper, carpet, fireplace and gilt mirror into the 1980s.
