   Designed by Charles Havens, for years the City Architect, as his own house, with its carriage house, on the 'Mansion Row' of Howard Street; with his partner Toepke he later designed the San Francisco Yacht Club, Mission High School and the Flatiron Building at Market and Sutter.

   On the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board's recommendation, the City Planning Commission unanimously proposed that the Board of Supervisors designate the Havens Mansion and its carriage house a city landmark (Resolution 8792).
