Levi Strauss & Co. factory

1. 1906

   Designed by the San Francisco architect Albert Pissis for Levi Strauss & Co.: a heavy-timber frame, wood-clad, single-use industrial building of a kind rarely built in San Francisco after the earthquake, and possibly the only one of its size. Dated 1907.

   The factory building on Valencia Street was occupied by Levi Strauss and Company and had recently been rehabilitated. On the unanimous recommendation of the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board, the City Planning Commission approved a resolution awarding the Levi Strauss Factory Building a Certificate of Merit on historical and aesthetic grounds.
