2901 California Street

1. 1891

   Three flats in the Stick Eastlake manner stood here from late 1891 until the school next door expanded over the site — wood frame under a front-gabled roof behind a gabled parapet, with paired two-storey bay windows, a bracketed cornice and three doors in a recessed porch, designed by Michael J. Welsh, an architect credited with more than a hundred San Francisco buildings, who trained in the office of his brother Thomas J. Welsh.
