2799 Pacific Avenue

1. 1893–1894

   Built as one of the first houses on the crest of Pacific Heights, with a barn and a retaining wall of some engineering on Divisadero Street, to designs by J. Eugene Freeman of Smith & Freeman: an academically correct Colonial Revival house with 106 windows, 14 fireplaces and a dome of some 8,000 pieces of stained glass. Its restoration architect called it the most completely documented pre-1906 building in the city.
