The Maimonides Health Center of 1950, the only San Francisco building by Erich Mendelsohn other than a house: an "ultra modern" hospital for long-term patients, with glass walls and balconies over a garden of modern design, the first of its kind in the west. The glass walls were later re-clad in stucco and new window openings cut.
