Children's Hospital had a four-storey building on Sacramento Street midway between Maple and Cherry, and a parking garage built in 1966 with spare spaces for future additions. The City Planning Commission approved, with two conditions, adding a fifth floor with 32 extended-care beds to Children's Hospital's four-storey building on Sacramento Street.

Children's Hospital had 362 beds; its oldest wing was being modernized under a 1963 master plan.

The City Planning Commission unanimously let its staff approve, without a conditional-use hearing, an 1,800-square-foot special-care nursery of twenty bassinets for newborns at Children's Hospital, built at second-floor level under the bridge to the outpatient and research building at Sacramento and Maple Streets.
