Built as an addition to the Kingwell Brothers' California Brass Works, a brass foundry of three interconnected buildings, all of which remain standing. It is one of only about fourteen buildings in the Central SoMa area put up between 1940 and 1945, when a federal War Production Board order halted non-essential private construction.
