    The academic building of Abraham Lincoln High School was built here with Public Works Administration funding, at a cost of $750,000, and dedicated on 22 September 1940 with 100 classrooms, a shops complex and a library. Timothy Pflueger led the design, assisted by Frederick H. Meyer, Wilbur Peugh and Martin J. Rist, in the Late Moderne style; the gymnasium and auditorium in the same plan waited until after the Second World War.
