    A new Francis Scott Key Elementary School was built here with Public Works Administration funding after the 1933 school bond, replacing a school two blocks away that had been judged a fire risk. Edward Eames, William Mooser and Douglas D. Stone designed it in concrete and terra cotta in the PWA Moderne style: academic building 1936, kindergarten wing 1939, auditorium 1940.
