The Music of Language
Mildred Howard's three-dimensional text runs across the Mason Street front — phrases including “Harmony and Kindness” and “Justice Like Water falls”. The city's inventory lists the work as untitled. Howard was born in San Francisco in 1945 and has held a Guggenheim Fellowship and two Rockefeller Bellagio fellowships.
The building was developed as a joint venture of the GLIDE Economic Development Corporation and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation.
