   Built as the Y.M.C.A. Hotel, mid-priced hotel with 386 rooms and 37 baths converted to apartments, to the design of the architect Frederick H. Meyer. Fourteen storeys over a basement, steel frame structure with brick walls, two-part vertical composition, Byzantine ornamentation.

3. December 11, 1928

   The hotel opened for business, the official ceremonies following on 17 January 1929. It was built as the first 500-room unit of a hotel meant to run to 1,500 rooms.

5. 1967

   The lobby was remodelled — ceiling lowered, elevator balcony closed, panelling throughout and the entry altered — a year after the game room had been given a dropped ceiling and modern lighting.
