    A multi-specialty medical facility opened here in February 1960 on a parcel bought empty the year before, offering primary care, obstetrics and gynaecology, surgery, radiology, urology, dentistry and podiatry, and later ophthalmology, maternal health, laboratory and mental health services. It was renamed the Arthur H. Coleman Medical Center in 1983 for its founder, the first African American physician to practise in the Bayview.
