Bayview Hunters Point
San Francisco's south-eastern quarter, settled from the 1860s as the industrial suburb of South San Francisco — Butchertown on Islais Creek, boat yards at India Basin, truck farms in the flats — and renamed after the city of South San Francisco incorporated in San Mateo County in 1909. Third Street, laid out as Railroad Avenue, is its main street.
