1556 Revere Avenue

1. 1870

   The Sylvester House was built. It stands among the Victorian-era dwellings that survive here in numbers because the 1906 earthquake and fire did comparatively little damage in South San Francisco, and was one of the handful of buildings in the district recorded in Here Today, the 1968 San Francisco Junior League survey that was the city's first.

   Built by Stephen L. Piper.

3. 1913

   Moved in 1913 from the south side of Sumatra Street (now Quesada Avenue) between Savannah and Platte Streets; the basement was built at the move from the stables on the old lot.

   The City Planning Commission unanimously approved designating the Sylvester House as a city landmark (Resolution 7105), on the recommendation of the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board.
