  1. 1850–1852

The western building, at 472 Jackson (formerly 434), was built in 1850–52 for the French wine and liquor house C. Lagauterie & Co.; wine and liquor dealers followed it into the 1870s, and its lot was merged with the eastern one between 1901 and 1909.

The eastern building, at 468–470 Jackson, was put up around 1852 by Nicholas Larco, a grocer, liquor dealer and commission merchant who led the city's Italian colony, and who occupied it until 1877. It was numbered 138 Jackson and, after 1860, 430–432.

Domingo Ghirardelli also used part of it for a few years before moving his business across the street in 1858.
