1. before 1890

   Bought by Anson Parsons Hotaling for his liquor business; it stayed with his estate and his son Frederick until 1944. A carpenter and builder had his shop here in the late 1870s.

4. 1942–1950s

   From 1942 into the 1950s it was let as studios and lodgings for artists, writers and musicians, some of them working in the wartime shipyards, before its conversion to decorators' and wallpaper showrooms and architects' offices.
