The three buildings on this corner have held a dairy, offices, a cigar shop and a candy shop.

Two storeys and a basement, concrete foundation and brick walls. Splendid Survivors gave it a “C” for contextual importance and the Planning Code listed it as Category V.

Five storeys and a basement on a concrete foundation, finished in stucco. The stucco front runs on into 427 Battery Street next door so that the two read as one building. The Planning Code listed it, under the address 410 Clay Street, as a Category V building, the lowest rating; San Francisco Heritage rated it “D”.

The General Harrison
The storeship General Harrison was built at Newburyport, Massachusetts in 1840 and ended up buried in the made ground of the waterfront, where excavation for this building uncovered it in 2001. Its hull is now a 60-foot artwork in the sidewalk outside — flattened copper ribs on a stainless steel frame.
The published account of the work spells the artist's name both “Topher Delany” and “Topher Delaney”; the city's inventory gives Delaney.
