   The building housed an office of the San Francisco Department of Social Services, which was considering vacating and selling it to centralize near 13th and Mission Streets.

3. January 15, 1970

   The City Planning Commission advised that the Department of Social Services should consider moving out of the building and study its re-use with other city agencies, and declined to endorse its sale for the time being.

4. September 24, 1970

   The Department of Social Services building occupied a 137.5-foot-square lot at the southeast corner of Stockton and Bush Streets, bounded on its other two sides by the Sutter-Stockton garage. The City Planning Commission found the expansion of the Sutter-Stockton garage onto the site of the Department of Social Services building at 585 Bush Street to be in conformity with the Master Plan, on condition that plans for the addition, its landscaping and its traffic circulation be submitted for review; the addition was to add about 500 parking spaces in three and a half levels above the existing garage.

5. December 14, 1972

   The City Planning Commission adopted the environmental impact report for the Parking Authority's proposed expansion of the Sutter-Stockton Garage by 256 parking stalls, finding the project would have an overall beneficial effect.
