The Savings Union Bank of San Francisco was moving into its new building, to open on Tuesday: a classical granite temple modelled on the Pantheon, designed by Bliss & Faville, with a pediment head carved to Haig Patigian's design, a banking room 63 feet 6 inches square under a 60-foot dome, and armour-plate vaults. A five-storey frame building with a saloon had stood here before the fire. The bank was the consolidation, that September, of the San Francisco Savings Union and the Savings and Loan Society.
