Nightingale House

1. 1878

   Built by John Nightingale.

2. 1882

   Built for the Forty-Niner and property developer John Nightingale, who had acquired the lot on the west side of Buchanan Street between Laussat and Waller, to a design by the architect John Marquis.

   The Eastlake-style house, zoned R-4, had been renovated after years as a neglected rental. On the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board's recommendation, the City Planning Commission unanimously approved designating the house at 201 Buchanan Street as a landmark under Article 10.
