    Built as a flat-fronted Italianate house by the contractor George Houston, a prolific builder in the district who may also have designed it.

    By 1904 the front had been pushed out about four feet toward the street, with a Queen Anne bay on the upper floor and brackets at the entrance, to fit a tailor's shop at street level with the family's rooms above; the back was extended at the same time.

    A permit naming T. L. Pflueger as architect — the young Timothy Pflueger — added a kitchen and porch at the back and an upstairs bathroom.

    Timothy Pflueger, as architect and owner, replaced the plate-glass window of the ground-floor front room with the three side-by-side windows it has now, twelve years after the tailor's shop there had closed.
