Contributor to the Mission Reconstruction District locally significant area (638-642 South Van Ness Ave). Criterion C: the survey's proposed district for the northern Mission's rebuilding after the 1906 earthquake and fire, period of significance May 1906–1913, predominantly Classical Revival, Edwardian and Mission Revival in wood frame construction. Contributor to the Inner Mission Commercial Corridor locally significant area (638-642 South Van Ness Avenue). Formerly called the 16th Street Commercial Corridor. Criterion C: San Francisco's largest concentration of residential-over-commercial and small-scale commercial buildings, spanning both pre-1906 and post-disaster construction, dated c. 1870s–1931.
