The Summit, Joseph Eichler's last San Francisco project: a thirty-two-storey luxury tower designed by Tibor Fesces of Neill Smith Architects, with Claude Oakland as interior architect. Its cantilevered floors end in balcony edges rather than structural members and are carried on two concrete piers. Its scale on the crest of Russian Hill was so unpopular that it led to zoning reform limiting the height and bulk of later hilltop development.
