2. 1946

   Built as an industrial building for Buon Gusto Sausage Factory, to the design of Martin Rist, one of the modern architects the city's survey identifies as working in North Beach.

3. September 7, 1948

   The Buon Gusto Sausage Factory began production: an International-style industrial building designed by Martin J. Rist for Fred Casissa's Buon Gusto Sausage Company, built by H. E. Rahlmann with Ira S. Kessey as engineer for $150,000, with forty workers turning out 25,000 pounds of salami and sausage a week. It was the only purpose-built meat factory in North Beach, put up as the neighbourhood's other sausage makers were leaving it.

4. April 6, 1961

   The zoning administrator held up a permit for alterations, calling the plant an existing but illegal sausage factory on land not zoned for industry; production carried on regardless.

5. 1978

   Buon Gusto stopped making salami here, the last sausage company in North Beach; the building then held offices, a warehouse and shops until 1992, and has stood empty since.

6. 1982

   Recorded in the city's 1982 survey of North Beach, adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 1999, as a contributor to the Upper Dupont Street / Grant Avenue District.
