  1. 1888

A Stick-Eastlake house — the only good example of the style on these blocks, where Italianate persisted through the 1880s. A rectangular bay window sits under a gable with plain bargeboard and scalloped shingles, and beside it a narrow porch on turned columns with sunbursts in the spandrels of the arch.

The report uses the number 2515 Larkin Street for two different buildings: this 1888 house, and an 1882 cottage on the site of today's 2543-2545 Larkin Street that carried the number before the block was renumbered. Appendix I p. 2 prints that earlier house as "2515 Lombard" and p. 17 and Appendix I p. 9 print it as 2515 Larkin. Not yet documented: the architect and builder and the early residents. The assessor dates the building to 1900; the city's historic context statement for this area gives 1888. Submit an update
