David Hewes Building

1. June 15, 1907

   C. A. Blume Construction Company contracted for cast iron and structural steel work on the Hewes building for David Hewes.

   Built as a 15-storey steel-frame tower with a brick curtain wall.

3. September 5, 1908

   Roebling construction company and O. E. Brady contracted for fireproofing, masonry, rough carpentry and roofing on the Hewes building, at $50,001.

4. 1950s

   Re-clad with green spandrel panels and restyled as a Midcentury Modern office tower; portions of the panel cladding have since failed, exposing areas of the original brick. It is a building altered wholesale into a later style.
