3. 1918–1970

   The Islam Temple of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine held its meetings and ceremonies here — the Moorish and Byzantine facade of polychrome terra cotta echoing the Shriners' own ritual — until 1970; the building then became a small theatre, the Alcazar, named for the old Alcazar Theater on O'Farrell Street, and its ground floor a commercial garage.
