1547 Oakdale Avenue
Bayview Hunters Point · San Francisco, CA 94124
-
circa 1865
Built as a Folk Victorian dwelling — a vernacular wood-frame house set with its long side parallel to the street, under a steeply pitched side-facing gable roof, with a porch running the length of the façade and little decorative trim beyond brackets and window hoods. The type is rare in San Francisco, where most such houses were pulled down for later development or lost in 1906. The house is associated with the Hittell family.
