500 Divisadero Street

1. 1888–1889

   Built as a store and flat to designs by Samuel Newsom — who had left the partnership of Newsom Bros. with his brother Joseph that January, and is best known for the Carson Mansion in Eureka — a Queen Anne corner building with rounded bays and a gabled roof, and one of the city's few intact nineteenth-century storefronts.

   The corner was a pharmacy for 93 years, founded by Theodore Green and later called Green's Pharmacy.

3. 1898–1944

   Theodore Green's son Frank T. Green — a chemist who also served the Board of Health and the coroner's office, and became dean of the University of California's College of Pharmacy — ran the pharmacy after his father's death.
