Banneker Homes by Joseph Esherick & Associates with Lawrence Halprin, in the Western Addition redevelopment area, which reused part of a former Acme Beer factory as the garage podium for a new housing complex and kept some factory parts as sculpture in the courtyard; those have since been removed. The project took a HUD Award for Design Excellence in 1970. Its original earth-tone orange, yellow and red paint scheme has been repainted grey.
