1. 1916

   Built as an industrial building, concrete construction, recorded as occupied by National Carbon Co. Engineered by Maurice Couchot.

2. 1917

   A square tower was added at the centre of the Brannan Street roofline to enclose the gravity tanks for the sprinkler system.

   An addition doubled the building's size, taking the Brannan Street elevation from five bays to fourteen.
