Recorded in the city's survey of the Van Ness Avenue automobile corridor as built for use as an auto repair shop. The survey dates the work to 1921 and 1927. The western wing was designed by T. Paterson Ross; Hyman and Appleton added the ornamental central pavilion and east wing in 1927. It was the largest auto repair shop in the corridor. An auto repair partnership worked here for 43 years from 1921; a recent conversion to a grocery store kept the original steel sash windows.
