Marine Electric Company Building

  Installed 2000. The granite boulder sits in a POPOS between the office towers that also displays poetry by U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass. Paul Kos, born December 23, 1942, is an American artist.

   The Marine Electric Company Building here was designed by Emil John, a two-part industrial building with light Renaissance Revival ornament capped by a cornice of galvanised iron, and representative of the maritime-oriented architecture once common in the city's industrial neighbourhoods. It was still standing, and rated for retention, when the block was studied in 1991.
