The lot held a two-storey wood-frame fire house with a hose tower, declared surplus by the Fire Commission and long abandoned; the lot was zoned C-2. The City Planning Commission reported that the surplus fire house should not be auctioned yet, giving the Model Cities Agency six months to propose a public use, after which a sale would be in conformity with the Master Plan.
