  5. 1977

A narrow six-storey building stood here, with a tall masonry facade in the art deco style. Its entrance was dramatically treated and flanked by bas reliefs of muscular figures, and its copper or bronze spandrels were designed with zig-zag motifs; the Foundation for San Francisco's Architectural Heritage called it one of the finest of the very few buildings in that style in San Francisco, and asked that whatever was built next to it should respect it.

  6. 1979

The Foundation for San Francisco's Architectural Heritage rated the building "B" in the 1979 downtown survey it published as Splendid Survivors — the second of its four grades, for buildings it judged individually important for their architecture, their history and their setting. The Department of City Planning's survey rated it "2", and it stood on the city's list of architecturally or historically significant buildings of May 29, 1980.
